About Us

19 December 2012

Just Two Schmucks with a New Hobby. Hoping to Offset the Cost of Living with the Finds. We are Both getting a 'Metal-Detector' this Year, and Though James is in the Mid-North of the Mitten, and I (Garry) am in the Mid-Lower part, we have joined together to explore areas that have been lost to time. I have Performed Intensive Research into Areas, ranging from the History of the area, to the Legality of searching with such equipment.

Some People ('Archeologist') would have you believe that they are the only ones qualafied to search the ground, or "Dig in the Dirt" as I read it once, and they try to Enforce their Beliefs upon People who use 'Metal-Detectors'. That is called 'Harassment' and is Illegal.

We are going to dedicate our searches to old 'Homesteads' and 'Communities' and I have found Several. Do I question if the Places have been Searched in this manner before? Yes, of Course. There are Dedicated 'Clubs' to this Hobby as with any other, and I am sure they would have the likelyhood of doing what I am setting out to do. There is one thing theough, the 'Clubs' are Small. Meaning there are ony a few, a Small Fraction that would have poured the time in the research of the areas I have, and thus not being able to check everywhere and collect everything.

I am sure that No-One has taken Sections of the Earth where they have opperated fore a gauge to determine a 'Timeline' of the areas soil.

I have Clued James in on a place to search first near him. It's an Old School Site, meaning it's 'Public Land', and what assures me to this day that it remains 'Public' is that it was planted with Pine Trees by the State and remains so. It is Close to his home and the Pines will cover most of his Activity while he searches. I have Determined 8 Sites that should be easy to Research within his range. I have also clued him into what to look for and to do if Confronted. (See FAQ)

I have found Several Communities that have been reclaimed by Mother-Nature that I am going to Explore near me.

It may be that James get's luckier than I will because the difficulties it took to Identify the Sites, and the Sparseness of each. Where I am Searching the Sites are Close Together.

I Encourage others to take a Camera to take Scenic Pictures as well as to Document their finds. (See Equipment List)

What about me?

Well, a Father with a lot of Stress to deal with Concearning My SCI/ASD Child and Meeting his Needs. Currently Unemployed due to CPS being called several times on whomever watches My Son. Since I had Become A DEDICATED Dad, there has Not been One Issue. Go Figure! I have Decided to take up this Hobby to Hopefully Suppliment My Income and maybe make a Full-Time Job of it. So I begged Family to get a 'Metal-Detector' and I would give them a Percentage of whatever I was able to get from using it. So, my Sister, The Only one who takes a Chance anymore in My Family (Besides Me) has Sprung for one as a Christmas Present for Me, and she has also Purchased one for her Husband (James). So between the both of us (James and I), we are going to Scour the Areas around us, and on some occasions combine our efforts to tackle larger parcels of land. In those Cases we Agreed to Split the 'After the Sell' Money 50/50, but we both reserve the right to keep a piece or two from whatever we find. I have done Extensive Research in the Past of Both our Areas and found some pretty interresting things that helped me determine my action for Selecting the Areas that I did. I am Very Through in My Research, Making to the Best of My Ability to Deminish any chance of Violating any Laws. The Stage Set, The Curtains are Ready to go up. 'Break a Leg'. Let's see where this takes us.
